I've registered pingthepresident.com for this, until it becomes pingthepresident.gov.

Design considerations:

  • Subscribers should be listed in random order, so there's no glory in being the first to submit the idea
  • Added comments must pass muster with all subscribers. If not, they are rejected, and the commenter is allowed to withdraw their assent, or submit revised comments.
  • Changes to the wording of the original proposal can be suggested, and adopted if all subscribers agree
  • 24-hour or user-set turnaround time for any changes
  • Differentiates between time-sensitive pings and long-term, recurring pings
  • No direct route - perhaps even no display - of the top-rated, most-subscribed pings - that overly favors the first ones submitted. Instead, the only way to join a ping is to enter it for yourself first, then be prompted through a search to join the most similar one, if one exists that's similar enough
  • Close the pings and deliver them through an API to the President on a regular basis - once a day, once a week, whatever either the pinger sets, or the President wants to allow. Perhaps deliver to the President's assistant on a pinger-set interval - and to the President on a President-set, publicly-disclosed interval
  • The President/assistant commits to reply to a certain number - perhaps the top 10, plus a truly random selection of another 10 - since everyone deserves some chance to be heard, don't they? Even if they're a party of one.
